Hey, look! A post!
Hello, fitblrs! I know I have been absent now for about… three weeks? Give or take?  There are many reasons for my disappearance. I’ll put the full story at the end, behind a cut, but basically it entails me being arrested for peacefully practicing my First Amendment right to assemble in Phoenix, Arizona). If you don’t want to read the full story, that is definitely fine. I...

Curves in review
Today was my first day at Curves!  Right now I’m feeling pretty good about it. My one complaint is the heteronormativity blatant in the advertising and in the food book I purchased (which I think might be a slight waste of money, but it has recipes I am looking forward to trying out). I guess that’s what I get for choosing a single-gender gym. And while realistically I would love to...

Farthest I’ve gotten. I thought yesterday’s W4D1 was going to be disasterous since I had to take time off to nurse my pneumonia, but it was actually the best yet! I really like the C25K program - the three minutes runs feel so easy compared to the five minute ones. Its nice to see and feel my progress. I also reserved energy and set a 15:21 pace for my last 5-minute jog and I got...

Restarting W4 tonight.
I’m off of my antibiotics and breathing much better. I did sign up for Curves last night but got there too late to try the Zumba class, so I’m doing that on Thursday and alternating it with C25K. I’m really just ready to get W4 out of the way but also a bit scared since I haven’t run since last Wednesday right before I got sick. To my walking pneumonia: you have plauged me...

Tomorrow, dear fitblr, I am joining Curves!
Since it’s the last day before I can restart C25k (W4 again), I am going to a Curves down the street to check it out. I’ve heard really really great things about it, and after this past weekend I’ve realized I need more structure in this fitness deal.  I’m quite excited!

Some positives of being ill
- I am actually upset about not being able to run. Who is this girl? - I am resting and getting better and I think I’ll be good to re-start week 4 on Wednesday  So yes. Getting there.

I have walking pneumonia
I feel like crying. This means I can’t run again until early next week. I am so upset and frustrated and know that I shouldn’t be. I need to rest and let my body recover and not push my lungs or hurt them. To do that I need to not run. But I was really looking forward to running tonight and moving past this week into Week 5 next. I’m allowing myself to wallow in this...

oneeightyfive: How in the hell am I going to run for 20 minutes straight next week when I can barely do 5 now?  You CAN do it! I mean, I can’t say yet that I’ve done it myself (I think we’re right around the same week/day) but I KNOW you can.

Why I'm doing this:
1. To be healthy.  A month ago I couldn’t run a minute without feeling about to pass out. Now I’ve run three. I’ve run five. I’m going to keep going. I want to feel healthy. I want to fuel my body with veggies and fruits and healthy proteins and healthy fats. I want to have the energy I used to have three years ago at my lowest weight when I ate wonderfully and had some...

beautitfulchange asked: Chobani is amazing. I love the black cherry. You can also mix half a packet of fat free/sugar free instant pudding mix for a sweet(er) treat. I mix some chocolate with it and then dip pretzels. Instant chocolate covered pretzels. And congrats on c25k, I just started and hope it goes that well for me.

W4D1 - OWNED
I say owned in a way to mean I almost died during the last five minute-run. And even though I had to slow down, I did not stop.  I also had a personal best distance today - 1.7 miles! Which means that by next week I’m going to be at 2 miles per run. Isn’t that crazy? It is to me! Food intake was also pretty great.  Breakfast - smoothie (ice, skim milk, oj, half banana, berries,...

My intent was to come home today and go immediately running. I skipped on finishing W3 because of the AIDSWalk but I wanted to finish it today so I could start Week 4 on Wednesday and stay on track. The race I’m eyeballing is in the first weekend of November and if I stay on this course, the race day will be W9D2.  But… I worked overtime. I took the train today and got home around...

5K Walk - COMPLETE
I did AIDSWalks - Phoenix this past weekend. Its a 5k walk. There is also a run you can select, but this early into my fitness journey (and given the fact that I am only on Week 3/4 of C25K) I didn’t even consider running. In retrospect, I think I should have. I think I should have just gone for it. What do you guys think? How early into your fitness journies did you decide to run a...

1.5 again - W3D2 done
And because I’m an idiot and didn’t hear my app tell me to stop running, I ran 4 minutes, walked 60 seconds and then ran another 3. I felt like a beast. This run was infinitely easier than the first one. I had some shin pain in the beginning but it tapered off. And the best part about today… I am wearing a shirt that was too tight last month. I had nothing else to wear and...

Week 3 Day 1 - complete
It definitely kicked my butt. All that bravado from yesterday? Demolished.  I know I finished and I want to be proud that I didn’t stop at all… but that last 3-minute run was killer and I felt awful after it.  I also didn’t sweat as much as usual. Does anyone else get stoked when they see the sweat on their shirt after a workout? I do, and today was just not happening.  I...

1.5 miles today
This is the farthest I have ever gotten using C25K. I repeated W2D3 because I didn’t want to start Week 3 yet during the end of the week (I like the weeks to be standard 7-day weeks; keeps me in line) and I did 1.5 miles.  This is huge for me. Today was run 90 seconds, walk 90 seconds and so I didn’t run it straight through.  But I increased my pace and did 1.5 miles.  And then I...

The Beginning
I realized that my first post of this tumblr wasn’t exactly a true intro. I’ve decided to remedy that.  ~~~~ Starting weight (August/September 2011): ~270 Height: 5’6 Goals: Short term -to complete the C25K program and run a 5K by the end of November -to drink 72 oz of water daily -to practice clean eating as often as possible Long term -to run a half-marathon by next May I...

Week 2 - DONE
Well, technically.  Also, I think I have shin splints. :( I’ve been icing them for quite some while now. They were hurting pretty much all day today with my right hurting more than my left. I’m really really really really hoping this pain goes away within the next day so I can run again on Sunday.

We are having Quedoba in the office today
Chicken with black beans, veggies and salsa, some rice and some chips. :D :D I’m feeling really good today. I drove to work, which always helps me feel awesome because then I don’t have to be in transit for two hours of the day. And while I love riding public transportation and the fact that I live in a city where that’s available, sometimes my commute makes me so tired and late...

W2D2 - DONE
Completed it yesterday, but as currently I don’t have internet at home I am just now telling all you lovely people about this. It was definitely difficult and the last interval kicked my butt again. I’m not worrying about speed at all (well, maybe a little) but it does do my mind great ease to see that every run I get a little bit faster. I can feel myself getting stronger. I can run...

Took a day off today from C25K since my legs and feet were hurting something fierce. The lovely hotel I have been assigned has amazing ice and wraps, so I am icing my knees and hoping to knock this run out tomorrow.  Food wise, today was pretty good. I stayed within my net goal (which is usually more than I eat so I have slight leeway), so I’m happy. But because today was also a very heavy...

W2D1 - DONE
I’m camped out in a swanky hotel currently because my apartment is still being cleaned. Having my apartment flood and living out a bag and in-between places really messed up my groove, not to mention my bff from Tucson is here for the weekend so time has been quite sparse.  BUT yesterday, despite the fact that I will be stuck on W2 into next week (I will probably need it anyway), I went...
